Triathlon Coach Mike Patrick

When Mike was  inducted into the Clarington Sports Hall of Fame in 2010, this is what was written about him:

“Michael Patrick has proven over and over again that age does not limit one’s ability when it comes to sports.  The Bowmanville resident seemingly get’s better with age.  The multi-sport athlete has completed over 50 triathlons, including the Ironman Canada event in 1998.  He is a four time member of the national triathlon team and represented Canada at four World Championships.

As a member of the Clarington Swim Club, he has won a number of national Masters swimming championships, and is ranked as high as top-three in the world for his age group in various freestyle events.  He has set and continues to hold a number of provincial and national records in the pool.”

Mike is still an active masters racer, trains with the club’s senior group, and continues to break records. More often than not he is seeded in heats with swimmers 10-20 years younger than himself. At the 2012 Canadian Masters Swimming Championships in Kelowna, BC, Mike won gold in 5 events, silver in another. At the 2012 World Masters Swimming Championships in Riccione, Italy, Mike scored 6 top ten finishes, including 2 silver medals.

Come and train with Mike, and take advantage of his his extensive triathlon and swimming background as a Masters athlete. Mike understands the challenges of training in mid-life, for three sports at one time, balanced with the pressures of career and family at the same time.
